It seems that there is a new scam hitting the internet for anyone utilizing VENMO for money transfers.  The following steps occur if you are unaware of them.

Please take the time to make yourself aware of this scam when something strange happens with your VENMO account.

There seems to be a new VENMO attack/hack/scam and it goes like this:

1) Someone steals a credit card or lifts a credit card through other means

2) Randomly, people  get money showing up in the VENMO account.

3) The victim gets a phone call or email stating that the money transferred was an error and if they can send the money back.

4) The Credit Card company cancels the card and requests that the money transferred into VENMO be sent back automatically.

5) VENMO sends the $$$ back to the Credit Card company from your VENMO account.

6) The hackers get the money back from those tricked into manually sending the $$$ back.

7) The victim is now out of whatever the $$ amount was originally transferred from their account.

The way to stop this from happening, is to contact VENMO immediately if unexpected $$$ shows up in your account.  Alert them to this IF a person does not expect nor recognise who the sender is.

Please let anyone who handles the VENMO account about this scam/hack.

Might be a good idea to send this also to anyone who also use  VENMO
