Amazon has recently announced that Alexa will now be able to monitor your indoor air quality.
Monitoring it and alerting when it finds the
quality is not healthy.
Intrusively monitoring your voice is one thing, but now monitoring your indoor air quality? It already listens in to all of your voice conversations. All recorded and stored in the cloud for who knows what reason.
It can now Monitor 5 key air measurements including particulate matter (PM 2.5), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and carbon monoxide (CO). You will receive real-time alerts if the air quality indoors changes. This is because it is always sampling the air indoors. Like it is always listening in when plugged in and turned on.
You might like this, but to me this is another step towards full monitoring of us in our home. They already listen in with these devices plus on your cell phones. Ever talk with someone about subject "x" and then you get ads on your phone about subject "x" showing up.
Now with this, they may even alert authorities about the quality of air in your home. What you smoke, how it endangers you and the welfare of your children. Who knows how they plan to use this against us!
Sounds paranoid, eh ? Well, most Security Professionals are. It's our lot in life to question why we need this or that and and build out the requirements, SOPs and document how dangerous some things are.
