And so another type of SmartPhone break occurs. This time a non secure app was found to leak users private data.  Why?

Usually standard or default Apps, especially keyboard apps are secure enough to keep things safe. However, the unsuspecting

user assumes that an app placed in an app store (google/android or itunes/iphone) is secure.  Many times these apps do collect or could potentially open up a security vulnerability.  When this happens, your data stored on this cell phone is potentially open to being stolen, shared or used for other reasons than what you originally expected.  Of late, cell phone "app stores" are taking a more proactive position to begin to check all of the apps for Security issues.  But don't forget that this is all a slice in time.  An app checked by todays or yesterdays standards, may prove to be vulnerable in tomorrow or next weeks standards.  Security is an ever changing environment with new vulnerabilities found everyday.

My choice, is to not modify key apps on my cell phone and leave them as default standards from the Manufacturer or Cell Phone Service Provider.

Stay safe on your phone, be wary of all the cute "bells and whistles" apps that make the phone too darn cute!
