New Directions, old pit falls

Everyone is pushing for and jumping onto the bandwagon of New Technology which includes Mobile Devices, Cloud and of course Social Media.
I had an opportunity recently to join CIO Perspectives in New York City (which I want to elaborate more on in another article, watch for it...) and I was appalled how so many just plainly ignored the security of these new technologies.
Here is a great article that gives you a good idea at how blind everyone seems to be to the insecurity these technologies represent. <Click here for article>
This to me, is amazing. Claiming that Hackers Own the PCs and talk about:
"To satisfy these requirements, the key characteristics of a post-PC architecture are scalability, semantics and security."
Yet there is nothing in the article that even touches on Security. It again is ignored.
Doesn't this reek of the Hans Christian Andersen's story, the Emperors New Clothes?
I really think everyone is so blind to the dangers that they just do not care. Security is to many, an intangible item that doe snot need any focus or funding UNTIL a breach or their names get into the headlines for a "Lack of Security" issue. But this is a topic for yet another new and upcoming article, so watch this website. I got some good ones coming!

Apps that read SMS including Facebook?

It seems that some apps that you download and install on your phones are actually spying on you.

Sadly, you need to subscribe to this news site to be able to read the article. Keep checking back here as that I am sure it will pop up someplace else and I will post this information here.
But as a side note, Phone Apps are coming under more and more scrutiny for Privacy issues. What right does a company have to make an app available that doe sNOT tell you that it is stealing your Address Book, contact information as well as SMS (text) messages? is Big Brother really watching ? You bet they are!
Facebook to launch Verified Accounts and Pseudonyms

Facebook is poised to announce and release their Verified Accounts and Pseudonyms.
This is another step in their attempt to control ONLY verified names and people from using their site. If you send in to Facebook a copy of a Government ID, Drivers License, Passport, Work/Military ID, School or Work ID, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card or even a copy of a Credit Card, Facebook will use this to verify who you are. When they have verified your account, they control the name that is posted onto your facebook page as well as will "destroy" the item sent in. Yeah RIGHT! Ever hear of Identity Theft ? Isn;t Facebook only asking for that information which could be considered enough information to steal your identity? To send it in so THEY can verify who you are?
We already know that Facebook is used to data mine for criminals, sex offenders, people who skip out on bills and a whole slew of information. So lets see, we send them proof and what, who knocks on your door if you have a toenail out of joint ? Isn't this all a part of Big Brother watching EVERY step you take and do ?
There is NO NEED to verify an account as that it's only a social media outlet. So what? I think that Facebook is overstepping their bounds here. The liability that "they will destroy that evidence" is absolutely insane! We already know that Facebook is attempting to raise billions of dollars, for what? Moreso, if they do NOT go with an IPO, will they look to more darker and sinister modes to raise cash? Will they SELL your Personal Identifying documents ? You should be outraged that they are doing this or even have the balls to ask for this information.
Facebook has a long history of security breaches, stolen accounts and falsified information. Do you REALLY think they will keep your Personal Identification information private?
Complain to Facebook! This needs to be stopped!
